About Me

LCol (Ret’d) the Rev. Canon Gordon Mintz,
CD, BA, MDiv, MDS, MACP, KStG.
Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying)

Congratulations! The fact that you are here means you have already started your healing journey, and I would be honoured to join and support you. It has been my great privilege to accompany individuals, couples and families through life’s most challenging and joyous moments while serving as a Priest in the Anglican Church of Canada, a Chaplain in the Canadian Armed Forces and now as a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying). My experience as a counsellor, teacher, and coach, combined with your expertise in your own life and the situations you face, both currently and in the past, provides significant resources with which to look at how best to improve your holistic health and well-being in alignment with your goals.

My most significant area of experience is in Couples and Relationship Counselling; however, I am also passionate about individual and family counselling. I am a certified facilitator of the Prepare-Enrich assessment, a widely used tool for marriage preparation and enrichment, which has been part of my work for nearly 30 years. My worldview is that there is something sacred in each of us that draws us to wholeness in mind, body, and spirit, which means many different things to each individual or relationship. As well as Couple Communications and Relationship Dynamics, I have experience in Aging Issues, Anger Management, Anxiety, Depression, Grief and Trauma, Religion and Spirituality, Sexuality, Spiritual Trauma, Stress Reduction and Mindfulness, PTSD, and First Responder and Veteran Issues. I have also provided Leadership Coaching and have studied and written about Authentic Leadership.

My hobbies include walking in nature, hockey (I am a die-hard Toronto Maple Leafs fan), reading and wood-carving. I am pleased to be a member of The Order of St. George, a chivalric order dedicated to enhancing the health and well-being of Veterans and their families. I am also involved with our local Wasaga Beach Legion Branch #645 of the Ontario Command and was happy to serve on its inaugural Executive Committee.

I offer sessions both in-person and online, whichever is convenient for you. My primary objective is to facilitate the positive change you seek by harnessing your strengths and working with you to reach your therapeutic goals.

To begin your journey, let’s talk with no-commitment and no strings. This will give you a chance to get a feel for what you can expect going forward. You can click the link above to book your first complimentary session. I look forward to working with you.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

  • My approach is to meet people where they are at, so no. I have greatly enjoyed working with people of all faiths and those of no faith throughout my career as a military chaplain. I respect each person's unique spiritual journey and endeavour to support them in a way that is authentic to them. Of course, religion and spirituality can be a psychological support to some, a wound to others and at times both. I am happy to integrate faith into a treatment plan for those who desire it, and I am pleased to offer faith-based, spiritually integrated Christian counselling, if desired.
